Shri Poonurmalai Tirth

Mulnayak: Shri Mahavir Swami Bhagavan, Padmasana Posture, White coloured idol and 75 cms in height.

Tirth Place: The tirth is located on the way from Vandavasi to Chetpet, temple is located at the foot of the Poonurmalai Hill.

History: The temple belongs to 1 century. This place was once meditation place for Shri Kundakundacharya. On top of the hill we can see 'Charan Paduka' foot impression of Shri Kundakundacharya.

Specialty: According to Digambaras Shri Kundakundacharya was famous and he is treated as one of the main scholars and in every occasion his name is remembered. The people have included his name in many prayers and lot of people believe in him. In books this place is also called Malayapradesh and hill is called Nilgiri and the village is called Hemagram. Every year there a big procession takes place on Pous Shukla Dashami.

Other Temples: At present there are no temples but on top of the hill we can see the 'Charan Paduka' foot impression of Shri Kundakundacharya.

Art and Sculptures: The natural scene of trees and pleasant atmosphere gives you peace of mind.

Guidelines: The nearest railway station is Dandavanam Station at a distance of 40 Kms. From there transport facilites are available. From Chennai(Madras) it is at a distance of 130 Kms. The hill is at a ditance of 3 Kms from Poonur Village.

There is one Dharmashala near to foot of the hill, there some facilities are availablel.
